Child Guidance Centre

TeachingExpertise Article
This is sometimes called the Child and Family Centre or the Child and Family Therapeutic Service.

This is primarily a centre where children with emotional, behavioural and mental health problems receive assessment and support from a multidisciplinary team of professionals called the child guidance team.

These professionals may include a child psychiatrist, a social worker, an educational psychologist, a clinical psychologist and a psychotherapist.

The Child Guidance Centre is usually run by the LEA and the local health authority, though it is sometimes run by voluntary organisations. Referrals are usually made through a GP, health visitor, educational psychologist or social worker.
