We can reveal that our own publication, Thinking Through School, has won this prestigious award which represents 'the very best in British education'.
The Educational Resources Awards 2007 took place at the
National Motorcycle Museum,
Birmingham at the weekend (24th March 2007) and we're very happy to announce that
Thinking Through School by Anne de A’Echevarria and
David Leat, designed and illustrated by
Geoff Read, was the winner in the books category.
The ERA trophy
Thinking Through School is published by Chris Kington Publishing which is part of Optimus Education, the people behind Teaching Expertise. The citation for
Thinking Through School's award read:
"Based on story-telling, this book adopts an innovative, enquiry-based approach to learning to learn. The judges described it as very effectively designed for its purpose and its age group. Support materials are attractive and really useful."
Thinking Through School is a unique new project for Year 7 pupils which aims to enhance the overall learning experience of pupils and provide them with transferable skills useful for life.
Thinking Through School leads pupils through a story with activities and exercises that help both them and you, as a teacher, to evaluate the way they think and learn.
The awards, which were hosted by Dominic Holland, are organised by the British Educational Suppliers Association (
BESA) and Affinity Media Ltd, sponsored by TES, GLS Educational Supplies, Berol and Select Education. With support from the National Association of Head Teachers, The Specialist Schools and Academies Trust and UK Trade & Investment, the awards are judged by 25 experienced education professionals.
