This enrichment activity for English will help your Gifted and Talented (G&T) students think about the construction of great writing, and how to translate it into Morse code. Hamlet is used as a starting point

Wikipedia's definition of Morse code is: "a character encoding for transmitting telegraphic information, using standardised sequences of short and long elements to represent the letters, numerals, punctuation and special characters of a given message. The short and long elements can be formed by sounds, marks or pulses, in on off keying and are commonly known as "dots" and "dashes" or "dits" and "dahs".
This enrichment activity for English takes into account the National Curriculum areas of:
- Group discussion and interaction
- Language structure and variation
It provides the Morse code alphabet so that your students can translate Hamlet and other great pieces writing. It will help your students think about how they can present things by using different methods.
