Must have UK experience
Breaking with the time honoured tradition of recruiters flannelling you with a rose tinted view of a school I’m going to lay my cards on the table…
My client is a large 3 form entry primary school in South East London, they will be going into special measures and a Super Head has been deployed to turn the school around. After surveying the teaching staff and middle management in action and consulting heavily with OfSTED and the LEA the decision has been made, regrettably, to terminate the contracts of 8 members of staff in December. To improve management and teaching standards throughout the school my client has instructed me that they are seeking to appoint outstanding members of staff in every year group to replace the outgoing teachers. Money is not an issue as funding is in place to appoint senior people throughout the school.
The Head is looking for people who can mentor their parallel teachers and improve standards in every year group. The Head is very well respected and has a track record of turning schools around. She is also blessed with an approachable manner and has stated categorically that she wants team players who can form the backbone of the school’s future success. She wants people who will contribute to discussions and planning for the school’s strategy to move out of special measures and who are keen to seek personal advancement. As a result she has stated that she will invest time and money in those appointed and the wider staff as a whole to help you obtain your goals, whether that is to move into leadership or to gain new skills in different areas.
There is no mistaking that these posts will represent a significant challenge for those appointed and that hard work, careful planning and dedication will be called for but that the rewards will be clear for all to see. It is not overstating the point that a good reference from this Head will carry a lot of sway within Greater London and could be the passport to the upper echelons of primary education for you!
