Are you an experienced ASD & SLD Teacher seeking a new permanent role for September 09?
This position is an exciting and unique residential school for children between the ages of 5 & 19, set in 13 acres of parkland. A supportive management team aim to meet the needs of children with autism and severe learning difficulties, many of whom have associated challenging behaviours.
They have achieved national recognition developments in Communication and Behaviour Management. Professional and personal qualities in this specialised and challenging field are very important!
Experience, whilst helpful is not essential. Extensive and on-going training and support of all staff is at the core of the success of the school. All teachers are fully trained and supported in TEACCH, Prospect, PECS and other Augmentative Communication Systems as well as being provided with other specialist skills. You will also be supported and encouraged to further develop your skills and knowledge by undertaking further Degree and Diploma studies.
So that you are under no illusions; this will probably be the hardest teaching job you will ever have, but will certainly be the most satisfying!
OFSTED have given the school a glowing report and highlighted that its success is to the credit of a highly skilled and well-qualified team of teachers and support staff that enthuse and enable pupils to overcome and cope with the substantial learning and emotional barriers that they face.
