This excellent independent school is seeking an experienced Headteacher to lead and develop this new site, currently going through a rapid period of growth. NPQH is desired, but not essential with the schools independent roots. Extensive ASD and SLD knowledge is a MUST and a good impressive track record of such a managerial role.
Since acquiring this site in 2008, the independent group linked with this school have ensured excellence and focus on children suffering from SLD and ASD is a priority. The school is located in leafy Surrey with easy over ground transport links to trendy South West London.
This site is a rapidly expanding residential school, looking to add to both its pupil and staff numbers. A strong focus on full time and specific provision for all pupils sees a very balanced pupil to staff ratio, with classes often being 1:1 and small groups (not exceeding 6). With 6 teachers, 15 LSA's and a number of residential support staff currently on board the school are looking for a calm, empathetic, ambitious and experienced Headteacher looking for a new role either for the new academic year or earlier if possible.
Due to the nature of SEN and the pupils concerned the school will only consider the most committed candidates and in return offer excellent prospects, including an attractive salary and pension package.
The Surrey site is residential, with ensuite bathrooms, bedrooms decorated to children's/young peoples' taste as well as activity, dining and sensory rooms. The school is fully equipped with all new resources at your fingertips.
You will require a teaching qualification and ideally a relevant SEN qualification, specifically dealing with pupils suffering from Autism and other severe learning difficulties.
Essential requirements for this role are listed below, to ensure you are entirely suitable for this post:
* Knowledge of provision appropriate for pupils with SLD and/or ASD * Knowledge of National curriculum requirements and P scales * Knowledge of the statutory requirements of legislation concerning SEN code of practice, Safeguarding children, Health & Safety, Equal opportunities. * Knowledge of alternative/augmentative communication systems including PECS and Makaton. * Ability and experience of managing and liaising with outside agencies, budget, staff performance management and managing challenging behaviour * Ambitious * Highly motivated
* A positive 'can do' attitude
