Are you keen to take on a new, permanent role in an ambitious, growing independent residential school?
This impressive school requires a new team of residential support workers (RSW's). This post is an exciting and unique opportunity within a residential special school for children with SLD (severe learning difficulties) and Autism (ASD). Children are aged between 8 & 19yrs with a number on the autistic spectrum ranging from moderate to severe. So that you are under no illusions; this will be a challenging post, but will certainly be the most satisfying!
This school site is one of four schools within the group that cater for children with special needs, specifically with SLD and ASD. This school is a lovely well resourced site that looks to offer an excellent education to all pupils as well as a comfortable and dynamic environment for staff. The school is in a period of growth with a new Headteacher starting in January the school will be looking to expand from around 12 to 54 pupils over the next 2 years, and are therefore in need a team of new RSW's (residential Support Workers) to start after the half term break.
My client looks to offer an attractive package for the right permanent candidates, with a solid salary, pension scheme, 30 days holiday per year, with great scope for progression alongside the schools growth. You will have the option of working different shifts. There are two shifts on a rotating 38 hour week basis.
Early Shift - 07:30am - 2:30pm
Late Shift - 2:00pm - 10:00pm
The role will suit a calm and patient individual with experience within special needs, educational or NHS. ASD experience along with PECS and makaton would be an advantage but not entirely essential as full support and training will be given. (Skills for care, NVQ level 3 - all funded by the school)
The school provides pupil care 24 hours a day 7 days per week, so are seeking flexible candidates able to work weekends and work well with other team members. If you are lacking in direct experience, this is not an issue as the Director has highlighted the need and focus on the right personalities and work ethos.
A proactive, friendly and supportive management team aim to meet the needs of children with autism and severe learning difficulties, many of whom have associated challenging behavior. You will be responsible for providing personal care for pupils with ASD ranging from moderate to severe. Experience in these areas, whilst helpful is not essential. A passion for SEN and working with less able pupils along with the right temperament and personality is a main focus for the successful candidate. Extensive and on-going training and support of all staff is at the core of the success of the school. You will also be supported and encouraged to further develop your skills.
