Do you hold QTS with experience with ASD pupils in an SEN environment?

** East London – ASD Teacher required! ** Primary Class Teacher! ** Good Curriculum and ICT Resources ** ASD and Complex Learning Difficulties pupils!

** January 2011 start – MPS + SEN

A Special School located in the East London seeks a Class teacher for a primary class on a permanent basis, working specifically with ASD (Autistic) pupils and other related learning difficulties. The school is a specialist status school dealing with Learning Difficulties including complex needs and autism ranging through pupils aged 4 – 19. You will be working with the lower ability and age groups, making this a very challenging role but truly rewarding for the right person with the right skill set. As part of the schools drive to promote teaching and learning, to challenge pupils and raise attainment they are specific on the individual they are wishing to attract. You will be a qualified teacher with QTS, a calm temperament with a passion for special needs and helping to develop and aid ASD pupils. These pupils do range from moderate to severe, so an ability to work with challenging behaviour is desirable. You MUST have experience working with pupils with Autism ranging across the spectrum. This is a permanent post, so only a committed and dedicated individual need apply. At least 1 years experience working in such an environment is required, as a certain empathy and understanding is required. Elements of personal care are expected from teaching and support staff! The success of this school is down to the 1:1 provision for their pupils, so classes are small and effective. Pupils within these classes can be non verbal, so knowledge of PECS and Makaton is both useful and an advantage. Additional training will be provided, but current experience will be an advantage in being shortlisted.
