Are you an experienced ASD & SLD LSA seeking a new role?

This SEN LSA post is an exciting and unique opportunity within a residential special school for children with SLD (severe learning difficulties) and Autism (ASD). Children are aged between 5 & 19 with a number on the autistic spectrum ranging from moderate to severe. So that you are under no illusions; this will be a challenging post, but will certainly be the most satisfying!

This school site is one of four schools within the group that cater for children with special needs, specifically with SLD and ASD. This school is a lovely well resourced site that looks to offer an excellent education ton all pupils as well as a comfortable and dynamic environment for staff. The school is in a period of growth with a new Headteacher starting in January the school will be looking to expand from around 12 to 54 pupils over the next 2 years, and are therefore in need of 3 new LSA’s to start after the half term break.

My client looks to offer an attractive package for the right permanent candidates, with a salary matching the main TA pay scale, pension scheme with great scope for progression alongside the schools growth. If however you are a Psychology graduate looking to gain considerable experience within this environment ahead of your career, annual contracts are available.

The role will suit a calm and patient individual with experience within special needs. ASD experience along with PECS and makaton would be an advantage but not entirely essential as full support and training will be given.

A proactive, friendly and supportive management team aim to meet the needs of children with autism and severe learning difficulties, many of whom have associated challenging behavior. You will be responsible for working with and providing personal care for pupils with ASD ranging from moderate to severe. There is currently a solid teaching and support staff within the school, who are able to offer support and advice as well as the team continuing to expand along with the growth of the school and intake of pupils.

Experience in these areas, whilst helpful is not essential. A passion for SEN and working with less able pupils along with the right temperament and personality is a main focus for the successful candidate. Extensive and on-going training and support of all staff is at the core of the success of the school. You will also be supported and encouraged to further develop your skills.

In order to get to the school with ease, your own car would be advantageous due to the nearest station being a 15 minute walk away.
