Special Needs – Head of Centre

You must have experience within an SEN environment! Immediate interview Must have UK experience

Do you have experience at management level working within an SEN (SEBD) environment?

Do you live close to Plymouth or looking for a change, relocating?

** Head of Centre required! ** East Cornwall location – 15 miles from Plymouth ** Permanent post – January start!

** Salary – Up to GBP 40K (depending on experience)

The directors of this independent SEN centre are looking to employ a new Head of Centre for this East Cornwall site, 15 miles from Plymouth. You will be taking on the day to day management of the centre, responsible for discipline, working with parents, recruitment and some interagency work.

This role will suit a confident yet empathetic individual with a proven track record of working at a management level within education. A teaching qualification is not essential, but you must be up to date on the SEN code and education structure!

You will be leading a team of staff making up a high student to staff ratio, so it is key that you are able to work part of and take charge of a tight knit team, in order to create and maintain a dynamic working environment.

The East Cornwall site is in its 3rd academic year and is looking to move forward. The school currently caters for up to 12 people aged between 11 – 16yrs who study a range of subjects from vocational to GCSE. “The centre provides opportunities for young people to obtain an education in a small, friendly environment”.

Pupils who are referred for reasons which include Social, Emotional and Behavioural
Needs (SEBD), permanent exclusion from mainstream, poor past attendance, severe school disaffection, low levels of literacy, or other difficulties which have impeded progress. You must therefore have the experience and right temperament for such an educational environment.
