Teaching Personal, Learning and Thinking Skills in the new curriculum – Birmingham

September 1, 2009 //  by Admin

We will be welcoming John Crookes, Head of Curriculum Partnerships and Evidence at the QCA, to give you an exclusive insight into the government’s vision on the PLTS framework and the key stage 3 assessment reform.

Dan Buckley, Research and Development Lead for Cambridge Education, will also be joining us to share his PLTS assessment tool, the Personalisation by Pieces Framework, which has received acclaim as a ‘breakthrough in personalised learning’.

The inspirational education speaker, Roy Leighton, Broadcaster and Advisor to schools on learning led leadership, will be running a keynote on how to put creativity at the heart of teaching and learning so you can develop PLTS on a whole-school level.

Jackie Beere OBE, Author of ‘The Learners Toolkit’, will give you nuts and bolts advice on how this works in practice as she shares her 10 years of experience of teaching thinking skills to show you how to deliver a competency curriculum that engages and empowers students. By attending this conference, you will learn how to embed the personal, learning and thinking skills framework in the policy, values and

ethos of your school, in order to develop high quality learning and raise overall achievement.

Benefits of attending:

- Hear from other schools on how they are using PLTS to raise achievement - Receive an evaluation and assessment scheme for PLTS that is easy to implement and drives progress - Motivate and train staff to integrate PLTS in day-to-day teaching and learning

- Take away ideas for thinking skills lessons that will engage & motivate students
