Schools across the UK are being invited to participate in an exciting national campaign to help children develop their handwriting skillsmy child
, the education resource for parents of 3 to 13 year olds, is urging schools to take part in Write a Letter Week, 22 to 28 February 2008.
Interested schools are being invited to visit the special website and to organise handwriting activities and events around the theme ‘My Local Hero’, before and during the week of the campaign.
Schools can encourage their pupils’ participation and help them improve their handwriting, by entering them into competitions with exciting prizes for:
- Best Letter
- Best Envelope
- and Best Poster.
Each of these three competitions will be judged in three separate age categories:
A special award of £400 worth of stationery (courtesy of Stabilo) is also to be won by the school or organisation that encourages the most participation from its children in the Write a Letter Week 2008 competitions.
Winners of the competitions will be featured in my child magazine.
The campaign is sponsored by Stabilo, and Basildon Bond, and supported by the National Handwriting Association. Several celebrities are supporting the Write a Letter Week 2008 campaign by taking time out to write letters to their local heroes and agreeing to be grilled in the Write a Letter Week 2008 Hot Seat. These include CBBC’s hottest new presenter, Ed Petrie; CITV Toonattik presenters Anna Williamson and Jamie Rickers; Olympic bronze-medallist Diane Modahl and her daughter; plus Basil Brush and Postman Pat!
