Whether themed Yoga or a regular Yoga routine, kids can enjoy Yoga too! Teaching young ones the proper poses for kids, providing kids with Yoga classes, and sharing books with children about Yoga are all great ways to immerse kids into the relaxing and rewarding world of Yoga!

Help children get their heart rate up and back down using fun with movement! These 25 ideas are great for your early childhood or elementary classroom or to help provide a time for students to relax at home.

1. Cobra

Easy to learn, the cobra pose is a great stretching pose for beginner yoga students. This is done from the floor and can push as much into a stretch as is comfortable. Remind students to keep their feet straight behind them.

2. Easy Sitting Pose

This is perfect for creating yoga cards. This easy sitting pose is a great beginning move for starting out with yoga. This is a great one for meditating and breathing. Kids will be able to get this one quickly and flexibility will improve.

The tree pose is a beautiful and simple pose, focused on balance. This pose is a great one to use when focusing on themes of balance. Creating a time for students to practice these moves is a great way to refocus within the classroom.

Full of tons of positive effects, this pose is good for many parts of the body, including even the digestive system. This pose requires much stretching, so this may take time for students to build up to this one.

This standing pose is a great one for using with other things, like counting. You can add in some basic counting to say aloud as you stretch in each direction. You could also sing songs while practicing this pose.

This pose is one that comes pretty naturally to children. There are two different options for how to get into this pose. They can begin by rising up or bending forward. This pose is playful and fun and works on stretching and strengthening.

Starting this pose with a deep breath, the chair pose is one that can be done with steady and deep breathing throughout. This is one to encourage stretching arms and holding the stretch. This pose has many benefits for health.

This is another great pose for beginners. Easy to do and easy to build up to the stretching, this pose helps work on breathing as well. This cross-legged position is great to include in a kids' yoga lesson plan or to use in fun kids' yoga stories.

This pose is ideal for strengthening legs. The legs will be stretched as the children stay in this pose. It is also ideal for encouraging controlled breathing. Animal movements, like this owl pose, are fun for children to practice.

Keeping feet together, this pose is a perfect stretching pose. Students will improve flexibility while practicing this pose and work to balance their body weight as they hold this pose. You can teach controlled breathing during this pose as well.
