Three things to know about appeals panels | Teaching Expertise

Just a real quickie:

The three most interesting things from my appeals training were:

  1. Governing bodies have to advertise in a local paper every three years BY LAW for new appeals panel members. If they don’t comply, people who have appealed unsuccessfully have a right to take the appeal further.
  2. If a school doesn’t follow its own admissions procedures to the letter, then they will definitely lose the appeal.
  3. Schools can only run a class of over thirty pupils for one year – after that they have to create a further class! Think of the space implication…
